![]() Guild members can be called upon by their church or by an allied church to help protect a particularly important location from intruders, tomb raiders, and twisted villains wishing to defile such places. They are responsible for protecting such places and, if possible, restoring them in the name of the North Gods. The guild is also called on to travel across the continent of Harqual to find old, hidden shrines and temples once dedicated to the Dead Gods that were members of the pantheon. The guild also then takes measures to ensure that the item isn’t stolen again by setting traps and magical protections - usually incredibly powerful illusions. Once the guild has procured a relic, they will protect it at all costs until it can be returned to where it was taken from. The guild will use any means possible to recover such items, including theft, bribery, magic, and if called for, assassination. Notable ActivitiesThe Angle’s Edge Thieves’ Guild was initially sponsored by the Church of Kuil to procure relics of the North Gods lost or stolen from the members of the pantheon’s churches. As a guild of rogues, this group often has the ear of the streets. PurposeToo find old relics of the North Gods, protect hidden holy places from those that would defile them, and help maintain fairness in the kingdoms and city-states across the continent of Harqual. None of those would stand up to meteor showers from elementalists. This means that the human magic users could focus all of their efforts on siege towers, ladders, and battering rams without any fear of ranged counter attacks. In short, ALL ranged attacks from the LoTR armies would be useless. However, as soon as they started firing on Divinity's Reach, Jennah created a huge dome (think the mesmer skill, Feedback, only big enough to cover a city) which blocked all of the siege fire from then until the attacj was over much later. Keep in mind that these people had been experimenting with bloodstone and jade shards to give their siege weapons a major boost. Divinity's Reach is sieged by the White Mantle. Perhaps her most impressive feat is what she did in season 3 of the Living World. She also apparently used a glamour to hold hundred of combatants in place (though I don't know the context of this). She created a clone of Kralkatorrik that was convincing enough to fool the elder dragon's own minions. Queen Jennah herself is quite possibly the most powerful mesmer in Tyria. It'd be closer since the city has more entrances, but humans tend to have more powerful magic users.
